An interesting issue is starting to brew for job seekers, where does one store their online professional profile? For most people they would say LinkedIn, or for the more technically minded maybe a personal web site along the lines of http://yourname.com.
But with the launch of Facebook’s personalised URLs does this mean Facebook could become your online profile?
At Jobseekr our recommendation is no. Keep a professional and a personal profile. Other than the simple Facebook is more a personal tool there is key reason to not use Facebook.

I was talking to a job seeker the other day who commented on they needed to know how to find employers who used certain software within their business operations.
So my suggestion, conduct research on LinkedIn. (Note: I am excluding your existing network and job postings.)
Why?
Well you can see which companies to approach as part of a cold calling process but more importantly find a potential contact who can introduce you to the organisation. Remember many roles are filled through word of mouth.
